Car Convertion - EGHOSA IGBINOSA- Developing African Technology

I have being using my Grand cherokee Jeep for over 3yrs after it's conversion from left hand to right hand drive car and has been very reliable as it has demonstrated high performance and reliability ever since.

Conversion requirements:

The process involved both mechanical and electrical works and the whole conversion did not take many days. The components that were required for the conversion included but not limted to steering axle, spindle, left side dash board and air conditional condenser, steering hanger etc. The steering and pedals were  moved from their original right hand driver's side to the original passenger's side, this neccesitate the relocation of the steering axle and brake servo/master brake systems  to the left side of the vehicle and adjustment/amendment of the respective the power steering pump pressure hose and hydraulic lines linking the steering axle brake system respectively were made. I had to also move the the automatic brake system, ABS from right to the left, with hydraulic lines re-routed from the ABS to the master brake cylinder.The A/c gas cylinder was also relocated from left to right. In this model and car make, there was already provision on the left chasis of the car to which the new left hand steering axle was mounted there was no need to drill holes on the chasis.

When transfering electrical lines, i made sure the same wire gages were used to re route any line to avoid heating up of the wire lines. Proper insulation of any point where wires were jointed was done with care to prevent wire bridging and partial contact which could reesult in fire incident. It is importantly to note that the insulator on both sides of the car metal panel, firewall separatng the engine compactment and the inside car cabine most be tempered with while doing the conversion work, any of these insulator removed most be replaced and all holes blocked to prevent heat from entrying inside the car. Avoid making over size hole on the fire wall to prevent heat entring the car This probem could be very serious for cherokee jeep as the normal working temperature of the vehicle is about 100 degrees centegrate.
